Biomass Energy Support Program (BESP)

Objectives: Install the energy based technology i.e. Improved cooking stoves especially for the poor, women, dalits and disadvantaged households.

 

Key Activities:

  • Baseline cum need assessment new VDCs.
  • Conduction for public hearing.
  • Organize and conduct for new and refresher promoter's training.
  • Conduction of Promoter's Ilaka level monthly meetings.
  • Technical tests (CCT) of the installed Improved Cooking Stove (ICS).
  • Installation of wall painting/hoarding board.
  • Orientation cum demonstration of metallic stoves.

 

Project Period: 24 months (July, 2009-June, 2011)

Project Location: 6 VDCs (Dandagaun, Gokule, Ghartichhap, Banakhu, Phoksingtar and Budhakhani) of Kavrepalanchok, district

Funding Partner (s): AEPC/ESAP/ Regional Service Centre (RSC)/ REMREC

 

Major Achievements:

  • 6 VDCs baseline cum need assessment through 1673 HHs ICS demand collection.
  • Public hearing program through 18 local promoter's selection. 
  • Organized and conduct 6 days 2 promoter's training.
  • Conducted of 12 (twelve) Promoter's Ilaka level monthly and 4 (four) quarterly meetings.
  • Technical tests (CCT) of the 4 (four) installed ICS.
  • Established of 8 promoter's hoarding board.
  • Conducted ICS VDC level orientation cum demonstration program through awareness from 640 female and 490 male.
  • Improved Cooking Stove (ICS) are installing for the Dalit HHs-21, Marginalized Janajati HHs-36, Janajati HHs-1143 and Other HHs-150, sum of 1350 households.
  • 1350 HHs ICS installing through female 5332, male 4523 direct beneficiaries.
